I hosted two 3-day hackathons for 2300+ students with a $300K budget in 2017 and 2018. Working with a small team of 10 students, I led the team in finances and operations, working to land sponsors, judges, and marketing out to students. I also founded Cubstart, a beginner-hacker mentorship program to teach new coders how to get started on building their first hackathon project. This eventually blossomed into its own college class.
This was during the hayday of hackathons and we had the ability to fly students across the country to join us in building cool projects focused on different themes, including energy and culture.
