## **OVERVIEW**

IconScout is an asset marketplace offering over 9 million icons, illustrations, 3D models, and Lottie animations. To enhance usability, it also provides a range of tools and plugins, with one of the most popular being the Iconscout Plugin for Figma.

The Iconscout Plugin has not undergone a significant update in the past three years, leading to inconsistencies with the constantly evolving IconScout platform. Users have reported issues such as increased bugs and a subpar experience. Despite offering a vast number of assets, our daily usage rates have not met expectations, especially compared to our competitors.

## **RESEARCH**

After discussing the project scope with the team leadership, they were optimistic about the product's potential but uncertain about the ROI (Return on Investment). Given our lean team and the large scale of this project, which will span two quarters, I need to justify the ROI to the CEO and team.

Through competitive analysis, we examined our competitors’ metrics and offerings. Additionally, we conducted three user interviews and reviewed all feedback related to the Iconscout Plugin to understand user needs. We gathered all this data and conducted a comprehensive audit with the entire design and product team.

## **PROJECT TIMELINE & PHASES**

### After our research, the team and stakeholders agreed to implement 17 new features and updates in four phases. As the project owner, I'm responsible for defining timelines from design to development and coordinating with cross-functional teams like visual, content, SEO, and marketing. I also need to ensure efficient use of each individual contributor's bandwidth.

**Phase 1 (2 months) :**

* Introducing Guest Mode requires minimal design and offers high impact, enabling immediate development post-phase one.

* The SEO team is onboarded early to ensure better long-term outcomes.

## **DESIGNS**

This project includes 17 feature updates, ranging from minor to significant. Discussing each feature in depth would be too lengthy and irrelevant here. Therefore, I will focus on the features that best showcase my visual and problem-solving skills and have the most impact.

**GUEST MODE**

**Our research showed that the plugin's login wall was a barrier for new users. To reduce this resistance, we introduced a Guest mode, allowing users to explore the platform without logging in. This change significantly boosted plugin usage, as the numbers confirm.**

**ONBOARDING AND EDUCATION**

**Due to the lack of proper onboarding and tutorials for core features, we introduced a new splash screen and onboarding process to help users quickly understand the product.**

**PRODUCT PAGE**

The product page was the most challenging, as we had to create it from scratch. Previously, a popup appeared when users clicked on a listing to select the format.

In the new product page, we incorporated 3D rotation for 3D assets, added a color palette feature, and included scrollable packs. These elements are visible enough to suggest similar assets without distracting from the main asset. Following up with CTA to insert assets.

**IMAGE SEARCH**

Having a source of inspiration is great, but sometimes you need it in vector or animation. Now, it's incredibly easy to explore and convert, ensuring the process remains minimal and efficient.

**COLOR PALETTE**

Since the color palette is one of the most popular features on the web but was missing from the plugin, we decided to integrate it. We reimagined the user journey to fit this feature into a shorter window, enhancing the overall experience.

1. The first phase of this project was released in June 2023, introducing Guest Mode. This made exploration much easy for users.
2. Last phase was released just before Winter vacation thats where you can see a dip.
3. There are bigger spikes at specific places these are marketing launches.

Our initial SEO efforts worked out well as the data seems growing even after winter holidays.

**What if we hadn't undertaken this project?**\
We would have faces around 200K less usage of Plugins which would lead to loss in user and revenue.

## **FUTURE PLANNINGS**

* **Scaling Internally :** As per what stats says we we are confident to move this plugins update to all 12 products and 3 Desktop applications.

* **Scaling Externally :** We learnt at lot on funnel creation and we will be scaling this to all the plugin system of LottieFiles.

* **Kit Illustration :** Kit based Illustration Kit which user can change specific instances to create new Kits.

## **LEARNINGS**

* **Incentivize Engagement :** Offer rewards as users progress deeper into the funnel.

* **Consistency & Scalability :** Build a platform that maintains consistency and can scale across all verticals.

* **Encourage Exploration :** Keep the platform open for user exploration.

## **PROJECT OVERVIEW**

During my 3rd year of college, a graduated senior who was employed at Google reached out to our design group unexpectedly. He suggested organizing a designathon where we would all tackle the same problem statement. Intrigued by the idea, we agreed to participate. The format required each designer to develop a project based on the given statement, after which we would critique each other’s work. We thought it sounded like a great opportunity, so we decided to give it a try.

## **PROBLEM STATEMENT**

Camera app for Android watch. Works as a remote for your phone's camera. Imagine you put your phone on a tripod and want to click pictures or record videos. How would you expect the app to look and work?

* **Functionalities** - click pictures, set timer, record videos, switch between primary lens and wide angle lens.

* **Deliverables** - minimum 3 screens. Dimensions 360pixels x 360pixels. Remember smallest tap target size is 44pixels x 44pixels. Try applying Google Material 3.

## **SOLUTION TO CAPTURE IMAGE**

Design the interface so it feels just like using the camera on a smartphone. Arrange the buttons and settings so users can easily snap a photo with a minimal learning curve. Some basic but important functionalities that I covered are switch over to video mode, set a timer for delayed shots, adjust the zoom, and change the megapixel count. Make sure all these features are easy to find and use on the smaller watch display, creating a smooth and familiar experience for the user.

The watch crown can also function as a shutter button, allowing users to take photos either by tapping the shutter icon on the screen or by pressing the watch crown.

## **RECORD TAB**

Users can easily switch to the recording tab from the bottom navigation. There, you'll find options to start a recording and other basic settings. Once you start recording, you can pause and resume with a simple tap, and stop it when you're done. You can also take snapshots from your video at any moment. The recording time is shown at the top, keeping everything straightforward and easy to use. This setup ensures a smooth and familiar experience, much like using your phone camera.

## **SWITCHES COMPATIBILITY**

The mobile device connected to the watch may not support all features, such as zooming in and out or switching the camera's megapixel setting. Therefore, controls will only appear if the connected device supports those functions. If a specific feature isn't available, the corresponding control will be hidden, and the remaining options will be centered for better visibility and access.

1. **User Interface Design for Small Screens:** Designing for a smartwatch teaches you to prioritize only essential features, enhancing your skills in creating minimalist, easy-to-navigate interfaces.

2. **Adaptive UI Elements:** You learn to design UI elements that adapt based on the connected device's capabilities, like showing or hiding controls if the smartphone doesn’t support certain camera functions.

3. **Cross-Device Compatibility:** Working on seamless app integration between the watch and various smartphones deepens your understanding of device syncing and communication, making sure a smooth user experience.

## **PROJECT OVERVIEW**

During a summer break in college, inspired by the support I received from the design community, I dedicated a week to help new designers by addressing a common challenge: finding resources for newer iPhone models. I created a comprehensive set of design components focused on status bars, aiming to make their entry into design smoother.

## **PROBLEM STATEMENT**

Seeing the need, I put together a detailed set of components for status bars on popular iPhone models. As time went on, I kept adding to and improving this collection, incorporating essentials like home bars, dynamic Island mockups, artboards, and grids. My aim was to lend a hand to up-and-coming designers, motivated by my own early struggles and the common hurdles faced by my peers.

The status bar, a key component since the project's start, has evolved in the latest version to include nested components. This allows seamless switching between dynamic states with thousands of customizable combinations, all available in dark mode.

Introducing Dynamic Island, inspired by Apple's focus on this feature and adopted by businesses, adds versatility in representing various states like compact, minimal, expanded, and incoming calls. It is available for the iPhone 14 and 15 series.

Multiple variants ensure users can easily switch and choose the perfect fit for their specific needs.

There are two types of mockups: hard mockups and insertable mockups. Hard mockups are high-quality and can be exported in high-resolution PNG format, making them versatile for use in design tools like Photoshop or Framer. Insertable mockups are designed for specific purposes, such as showcasing mobile screen designs on platforms like Dribbble. By dragging designs into the left artboard, the mockup is automatically generated, ensuring a polished presentation.

All artboard sizes are crafted to be pixel-perfect for each device, as specified in the community file. This includes the incorporation of a universal 4-column grid system, ensuring precise and consistent design standards.

I am a nomadic backpacker with a passion for exploring the world's most challenging terrains.

An avid high-altitude enthusiast, I've reached the Everest Base Camp and am currently aiming to conquer a 6 thousander peak in India.

I have a deep passion for discovering local cultures and food through solo backpacking. In the past two years, I've booked stays in over 50 nomadic hostels, enriching my experiences and connections. My longest solo backpacking journey lasted 72 days.
