Working on my thesis on Immaterial Cultural Heritage!
About
Ciao! I’m Federico Denni, and I’m pleased to meet you!
I’m an in-training interaction designer from Italy, working on products and interfaces trying to design for the present and the future.
My philosophy is that some playfulness is key to making an interaction fun, transforming a problem into a meaningful experience, and making the world a little bit less boring.
Projects
Hybrid working has recently become an increasingly important reality in the work market, however, the phenomenon brings with it a number of risks related to the inefficiency of digital tools in bridging the gap between the physical workspace and the home workspace. Knocknock aims to improve communication and collaboration, bringing the experience closer to that of a physical workspace.
HACKO is an open-source fermenter kit developed for the Distributed Design Platform, in collaboration with Polifactory, the Fablab of Politecnico di Milano, with the scope of offering an alternative food source for restaurants and public canteens, designed to share teachings and DIY practices and to promote methods of production of food at home.
HACKO has been presented at a lot of events around the world, promoting the principles of open-source designs and fab labs in the fields of food and sustainability production.
We presented HACKO in Lisbon at the Gentler Food Festival in September 2023 and it is present in the book Driving Design edited by the Distributed Design Platform.
All HACKO project files are available on the Polifactory website, free to use and modify.
PIENE is a self-tracking device with the objective of lightening up and having fun of burnouts, in order to make people more aware of the effects of overwork on their lives. Is inspired by the popular Italian saying of connecting how swollen are testicles to the burdens of work. Our prompt was to ask: “But how much actually?”
This project was made during a one-week workshop in collaboration with people from EPFAL+ECAL lab
Side Projects
I’m always stoked at how some apps are simply there for being as useful as possible without considering that sometimes they become excessively boring. I decided to find an interesting way of having a weather prediction that could engage me in fun ways using the power of Large Language Models
