About
Experienced PM, engineer, and leader working on bringing robotics into the real world. I am passionate about leading high-functioning teams that operate in high uncertainty problem areas such as AVs, industrial robotics, and other safety-critical applications of ML and AI. I also actively angel invest and advise startups in this space.
Work Experience
I angel invest and advise startups (mostly those working in applied AI/ML) and also co-lead the Waymo Angel Syndicate. If you have any interesting companies or founders that are working in this space, I'm always interested in chatting and seeing how I may be able to help!
• Led the PMs working on first-party autonomy efforts–product owner for major company programs and supporting work spanning all of ATG’s self-driving efforts.
• Coordinated major autonomy-related efforts with senior leadership (both internal and external), driving roadmap efforts across all autonomy teams (Motion Planning, Prediction, Perception, Controls), and leading product strategy for first-party SDVs.
• Developed autonomy-specific product management practices, tooling, and guidelines to scale team output and rearchitected autonomy product requirements and development process in collaboration with cross-functional senior leadership.
• Multiple patents applications
• Led product efforts, strategy and corporate partnerships, and robotics core tech R&D on an internal robotics project for Data Center Automation. Scaled from one-off prototype to a multiyear, multi-team effort and delivered first generation product on schedule–including driving low-to-mid volume manufacturing, hardware product certification, and systems architecture. Interned and then became full-time engineer on specific team built around initial project.
• Multiple patents awarded.
• Computational, end-to-end design of socially interactive robot embodiment and behaviors. Developed and evaluated model-based approaches for building effective embodiments and gestures for socially interactive robots for personalized, long-term
interactions for a variety of functional and social applications.
• Advised by Maja J. Mataric, Bilge Mutlu, and Gaurav Sukhatme and funded by the NSF, NRI, and the Richardson Research Fellowship.
Led electromechanical and industrial redesign of cutting-edge holographic displays. Designed and prototyped new manufacturable (DFMA), product lines for holographic media platforms. Products designed manufactured and deployed to dozens of global customers.
Led a few strategic efforts (product, engineering, design, hiring) within the company on the path to delivering an emotionally-intelligent robot friend.
Co-founded personal robotics company focused on blended-reality interaction for open-world play with children. Led business and product design as well as development of mechanical and electrical systems and content.
Part of the fellowship program at IDEO helping out partner companies with product design, engineering, and strategy (focused on robotics/AI efforts).
