2021

I had the opportunity to work alongside 5 other course mates through the PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon. My team, Team Codetama, competed under the InsureTech division where we clinched first place.

Aside from handling our internships and Final Year Projects, our team worked tirelessly using the Design Thinking framework to understand the needs of our target segment (Gen Zs) to propose a holistic app solution, named “FinCube”. Through the competition, I worked closely with my teammates to carefully define and curate the design language of the app solution's interface, as well as to design the overall User Experience. For the Grand Finals, our team had the opportunity to work alongside Prudential's regional executives and senior managers to refine our app's user flows, which we presented in a pitch video where I led in conceptualisation and production. Having pitched to leaders from Prudential, the Ministry of Finance, the Association of Banks in Singapore, and the Singapore Fintech Association, our team emerged as one of the top 5 teams in the Grand Finals.

2021

The PRU Fintegrate Partnership programme is Prudential Singapore's flagship open innovation programme for Design, Tech and Student communities around the world to reimagine health and wealth, and contribute creative solutions to business challenges. Our 6-man team designed our app solution, “FinCube”, using the Design Thinking framework, and presented a proof-of-concept prototype to Prudential’s C-suite executives from around the world. Our team emerged from the Finals as the Top team with 50% or more women amongst the 80 other international teams who participated.

2021

The Brand Challenge is an annual 3-weeks Business Case Competition that is designed to give youth direct insight into business problems and case cracking. Our cross-disciplinary team of 5 used the Design Thinking framework to develop a three-phase marketing mix solution (named “Goin’ Loca, with Traveloka”) that leveraged on nostalgia marketing, product-bundling pricing and machine learning (such as association rule learning and market basket analysis) to boost Traveloka's brand share in Singapore. Our team represented both Singapore Polytechnic and Singapore on the international stage to compete against 70 other international teams, where we clinched second runner-up in the Finals after 3 rounds of intense competition.

2021

The Rocket Pitch Festival is an annual startup pitching competition organised by Singapore Polytechnic School of Business to cultivate the spirit of entrepreneurship in students in both secondary and tertiary education. My teammates and I delivered an elevator pitch of our B2C meal-prep service (fondly named “AhMah’s”) to food and beverage industry leaders, venture capitalists, and startup investors from DBS and OCBC, eventually emerging as 2nd Runner Up.

Projects

2021

"How might we engage communities inclusively during COVID-19 times, to ensure that non-digital natives can continue to participate in and influence design processes and decisions that affect them?"

I had the opportunity to lead and work alongside 4 other cross-disciplinary team members that hailed from SP's various faculty schools to put our problem solving and Design Thinking into play. Using Google's Design SPRINT framework, our team worked closely with our client, Participate in Design (P!D), to understand, ideate, prototype, and test a Covid-proof, hybrid solution that aimed to increase participation in neighbourhood engagement efforts. Despite the short span of 10 days, our team had the opportunity to gain insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes in designing such engagements, and better understand the Nee Soon community’s unique culture to design our proof-of-concept.
