Danny Chung

Creative Director in Bay Area, He/Him

About

My name is Danny and I am a creative optimist.

There are always ways to grow business with creativity and for 10+ years, I’ve been lucky to partner with industry pioneers to do so. I’ve helped craft brands that charted new territory, launched campaigns that unlocked new markets, and told stories that moved communities into taking action.

As a creative catalyst and strategic partner, I bring lateral thinking and business know-how to projects big or small. As a QTAPI person, I am obsessed with the intersection of identity and design.

Making the most out of creative opportunities is my happy place, so whether you are a startup with a stirring cause or a big brand looking to cause a stir, let's make your dent in the world.

Ongoing

For over 35 years, GAPA has been a stalwart for the advancement of the community for over 30 years. As identities have broadened since its beginnings as a men’s group, GAPA needed to update its vision, mission, and values to better serve the current state of the entire community.

As GAPA’s Brand Director, I led a holistic rebrand, including a new brand core and identities that have touched every touchpoint of the organization. The work continues to amplify GAPA’s mission of seeing, hearing, and celebrating the QTAPI community.

2021
Rebrand and Fundraising at Candid Wholesale

For mom-and-pop businesses, doing wholesale meant navigating a fragmented web of software, paperwork, and personal connections. What was already difficult became nearly impossible in a pandemic. Candid’s platform met the moment and offered a sustainable way ahead.

As Candid’s first Creative, I led branding, product, pitch design and helped secure a $2 million seed round, launching the next step in Candid’s mission to transform the future of wholesale.

2018

Udemy led the first wave of massively open online course providers. It was time to claim the singular impact of its education marketplace on the world.

I was a creative lead on the global rebrand and drove the development and design of the brand book, product branding, and a bevy of events and marketing. We seized a pivotal moment in edtech and positioned the business for explosive growth, building to a $3.8B IPO.

Volunteering

2019 — 2020

Broke down stereotypes, marginalization, and ending violence against queer communities through speaking engagements with companies and educational institutions throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

2018 — 2020

I serve the greater QTAPI community in the bay area as Brand Director at GAPA. Spearheaded a comprehensive rebrand including newly articulated values, vision, mission, and visual identity.

2015 — 2015
San Francisco

Mentored students from local middle schools in various extra-curricular projects from inception to presentation.
