At xChange, I joined as a Senior Product Designer, bringing valuable insights from my previous roles to improve the product division. Early on, I saw the need for an effective Design System. I initiated and led this project, quickly developing my role into a leading one.

My role included building, planning, and scaling the system but I also oversaw our second system designer and front-end developer. In just 14 months, we introduced and rolled out 'Compass', our Design System.

Compass improved system satisfaction by +16% while scoring 70 out of 100 reachable points and even more:

  • General Satisfaction: 4.0 of 5.0 avg (+29%)

  • Positive Answers: 3.7 of 5.0 avg (+41%)

  • Figma Kit: 4.0 of 5.0 avg (+54%)

  • Code Library: 4.0 of 5.0 avg (+31%)

  • Efficiency: 4.0 of 5.0 avg (New Metric)

Leading Designer for Compass Design System

  • Oversaw our Design System 'Compass', managing direct reports in Product Design and providing indirect supervision to Front-End Engineers.

  • Successfully implemented Compass across our technology and product teams, improving system satisfaction by 16% in general and positive feedback by 40%: "The new system changed my life as a developer, it is so easy now!"

  • Developed strategies for the design system to enhance scalability, flexibility, and innovation, focusing on user needs and speed.

  • Additionally setup a complete work environment including a full functioning and measurable Jira Project, Sprint Board with agile communication

  • Overhauled our Storybook approach for our Developers and created a general Documentation and Design System hub via Zeroheight.

  • Quarter and later Trimester Reports with qualitative measurements were done to define Objectives and Key Results and measure progress.

Besides my main role as a Product Designer to contribute and build solutions for our customer-facing application and business-facing service, I had the unique chance to find myself within a small group of people to build and apply a new design language, merge two applications (car2go and DriveNow) to continue and elaborate the given and awarded user experience to become SHARE NOW. Besides my daily work as Product Designer, I had the chance to build a newly founded Product Team from scratch in collaboration with the Product Owner, recruit and hire a Working Student, and further part to grow our Product Design Team.
