reviewsnobodyaskedfor.com is a minimalistic blog for an upcoming book reviewer called Avva. Her reviews are honest and to the point, and she doesn't care if you like it or not. She states that pretty good in her about page:
I write really mean reviews. Just handing out one-star ratings to your faves like candy at a kid's birthday party.
The design of the blog reflects her style of reviews: simple, clean and to the point. No fluff, no bullshit, statements are big and bold. To prevent readers from getting spoiled, the blog has a spoiler warning on every review that might contain spoilers. The spoiler warning blurs the text and adds a warning to the top of the page. The content is visible when the user clicks on the "Show review" button next to the warning.
The color palette contain pastel colours that are easy on the eyes. The main color is coral, which is used for the accents.
"Sand" is as an alternative for coral. Texts are using "coal" as main color. "Coal" is also used for shadows of buttons and cards. The background color of the blog is paper.
The technical stack behind the blog is pretty simple:
Personally, I had a lot of fun working on a more "traditional" web project again. I haven't worked on a blog in a while, and it was a nice change of pace. There are already a few new features planned for the blog, so stay tuned! If you want to read more reviews nobody asked for, you can visit the blog here.
