Decelerated Dialogues was the 16th Annual Art History and Visual Culture Symposium organized by the Art History Graduate Student Association at York University. Inspired by the 2016 Summer Institute Slowness, not Sedation, the symposium explored slowness as an engagement mode, covering topics like sustainability and escapism. The event featured artist talks, academic presentations, and art installations, fostering critical conversations about deceleration.

Beyond this Promised Land featured the work of Stephanie Wu and Danika Kimberly So, two queer-identifying Asian artists from the suburban neighbourhoods of Markham and Scarborough. As first-generation Chinese-Canadians, So and Wu refuse the cookie-cutter expectations placed on them by heteronormative immigrant dreams. Instead, their works reinterpret the suburbs as imaginative and heterogeneous places, conducting physical and visual interventions into mundane motifs of everyday life.

The UX Design Diploma at BrainStation, approved under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, prepares students for a successful UX design career. Covering user research, wireframing, and prototyping through hands-on projects with industry partners like Google, students use tools like Figma and learn design thinking. Graduates leave with a strong UX portfolio and personalized career support.

The Criticism & Curatorial Practice program at OCAD University is Canada’s first undergraduate program dedicated to training artists as curators and critics. This innovative cross-disciplinary approach combines studio-based learning with courses in contemporary art, art history, art writing, and theory, equipping students with essential insights into museum and gallery systems for a comprehensive education in the cultural sector.

The Diploma in Curatorial Studies in Visual Culture is taken in conjunction with the MA degree in Art History and Visual Culture. Students are required to take four 3.0 credit courses.
