In January 2020, while working at Ornio, I was tasked with redesigning and statically coding the website of uWork AS, an innovative online staffing agency that connects companies with Norway's best therapists, nurses, educators, and other healthcare professionals.
Project Goal
In redesigning the uWork website, our main objective was to tackle the issues of the previous version, which was difficult to navigate and took users a lot of time to find what they needed.
Foundations
By establishing foundations early in the redesign process, we ensured that uWork's new design would deliver a consistent and visually appealing experience for its users. The choice of typography, such as the 'Mr Eaves XL' typeface for its friendly and bold personality, and the 'Nunito Sans' typeface for its readability, helps convey the desired message and tone.
Similarly, colors play a crucial role in distinguishing and unifying the brand across different mediums. Green represents growth and vitality, symbolizing the progressive nature of the platform. The dark color signifies reliability and sophistication. Blue embodies trust and professionalism, while orange creates an energetic and engaging environment for healthcare professionals.
Wireframes
Before proceeding to design, we wireframed all of the crucial parts of the uWork interface and then created high-fidelity wireframes using Whimsical.
Components
For uWork's website, we've created compatible components. These components are the key building blocks that work together to create an effective online presence and communicate uWork's message to its target audience.
We tried as much as possible to keep components as consistent as possible and reuse them throughout the entire interface.
By adding movement to some of the website's main illustrations, we added an extra layer of meaning that elevates its potential to deliver the right message.
Website
The goal was to have a website demonstrating uWork's core function —connecting staffing companies with Norway's top healthcare professionals, while also highlighting the key benefits for healthcare professionals and providing an intuitive signup flow for them.
Mobile friendly
In today's digital landscape, the importance of a mobile-friendly website cannot be overstated. I adapted and optimized the design for smooth navigation and exceptional user experience across all types of devices.
"I had the pleasure of working with Bardh on a long-term project. Bardh has designed our company logo, website and web application. He was able to take our ideas and turn them into a fantastic design that our users absolutely love. He has a great eye for detail and an ability to pay attention to the little things while still keeping an eye on the big picture."
