Visual designer & photographer in Berlin, Germany

About

Art/documentary photographer and self-taught visual designer (graphic design and UI/UX). I'm available for work; home-office and 100% remote.

Side Projects

2020

A series of 100 photos shot from within my home with an iPad. Initially photos taken from the window, later abstracted plant and flower photography. Remarkably, this project started before the world came to a halt due to COVID-19.

2011

A series of Human Rights logos created for a global design competition. My concept for any of the logos is that they can be created – and taken down – quickly and inconspicuously. A marker, (duct) tape or even just your hands is all that's needed. This guarantees safety for any of the protesters, and the designs are neutral enough that they can't be traced back to one particular individual or group.

Exhibitions

2012
Berlin, Germany

EINmagazine was an experimental, conceptual photography magazine created by TA collective (Ania Pabis and Aleks Slota). I was invited for the first publication, “I have nothing to say”, and contributed the piece “from that which acts to that which sees”. On Oct 29, participants were invited to gallery liebig12 to discuss their work. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend.

2011
Wem, Shropshire, UK

For Postcards from Europe, multiple illustrators created postcards representing their European hometown. After the cards had been on display in a group exhibition at Wem Town Hall, all participants received random postcards from any of the other contributors. (Oct 3 — Nov 12)

1998
Aachen, Germany

Group exhibition by the “Monumental Vormgeving” (fine arts) graduates from 1998. I had two works on display: a photo series called Times of Space, and one half of installation piece Layers. The other Layer, a silkscreened photo on the floor, was on display in my open studio at the Maastricht Institute of Arts.

1997
Heterogeen at Keizer Karelplein
Maastricht, Netherlands

Group exhibition in an abandoned house in the heart of Maastricht. I created the installation “It's a lovely day tomorrow" as part of an online exchange project called "Adam Beckers”, which explored on- and offline personas in a hybrid space.
