About

I’ve been creating digital experiences professionally for over 15 years, delivering projects for clients and brands of all sizes, and problem solving with numerous technologies in fast-paced and high-stakes environments.

I have a proven track record of leading successful projects from ideation to launch, and pride myself on my intuitive understanding of the relationships between every aspect of a project. This allows me to anticipate and address potential issues well in advance for a rapid and issue-free roll out.

As a developer, I've had the opportunity to use a wide range of prominent tech stacks across countless projects, and over the years I’ve encountered and solved every obscure edge case across a multitude of devices and input methods, new and old, making my products reliable, user-friendly, and issue-free.

Further, I’ve always been passionate about design, bringing a keen eye to every project and bridging the gap between design and development teams to create greater shared understanding and more efficient workflows on both sides.

Side Projects

2023

I am co-founder, designer and front end developer of Riskable, a platform that automates cyber security strategy, benchmarking and risk management for SMEs. We believe cyber security should be talked about, shared, questioned, and analysed collaboratively.

Powered by the Riskable data analytics platform, we've built a free platform and have one goal; to improve cyber security posture, awareness and risk management practices globally.

Work Experience

2012 — Now

Since 2012 I’ve worked with Kerve, a small but fast-paced digital creative agency based in Bath, UK, where I’ve lead the development and delivery of nearly 100 diverse projects.

In that time I've built everything from interactive real-world experiences for brands to browser-based games with real-time multiplayer to component-driven React and WordPress websites. I frequently work with animation libraries such as GSAP and Framer Motion, and I've worked with countless APIs, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Spotify, Last.fm, and my own bespoke endpoints. I’m both familiar with the latest cutting edge technologies, and experienced at making things work in antiquated environments. My proficiency also extends to various back end server technologies, such as AWS, Firebase, Vercel, Netlify, and more. I’ve even undertaken product design and experiential work for a range of brand publicity events - prototyping, building and installing interactive experiences and providing on-site training and support.

As the company’s technical director, and previously the most senior front end developer, I’ve played a key role in ensuring projects are delivered reliably, on time, and on budget for many high profile clients, including Nike, Amazon, Huawei, Sky, Barclaycard, and more. I manage both junior and mid-level developers, providing a holistic project structure and guiding them to be as efficient as possible.

I also work closely with our talented designers, consulting on design, UX, and UI for most of our projects. From the beginning the design team have consistently strived for perfection and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with the available technology, meaning that as a developer I’m well versed in delivering pixel perfect builds, and as a technical lead I’m proficient in providing technical guidance and feedback to both designers and developers in order to streamline workflows and optimise team collaboration and productivity.

2007 — Now
Web designer and developer at Freelance

Since my teenage years, I’ve regularly undertaken freelance design and development work in my spare time, gaining valuable experience at an early age in collaborating with clients and managing my own projects. Building up my own design and development brand reinforced the importance of effective communication and taught me the value of user-centred design principles in order to create products that meet the needs of both clients and end-users.

2007 — 2011
Web designer and developer at Brief8

Having taught myself the basics of web and Flash development, I secured my first full time position at a local web agency when I was just 18. During my time there, I utilised my skills to single-handedly design and build several websites for local businesses, as well as producing branding and marketing materials. My ability to work independently and efficiently allowed me to deliver high-quality work that exceeded the expectations of both my employer and their clients. Within just five months, I gained a broad range of industry experience and a huge confidence boost. I then continued to work with the agency on a freelance basis throughout my time at university, further honing my skills in web design and development.

Education

2007 — 2011
BSc (Hons) Architecture at University of Bath

Before ultimately pursuing my love of coding and UI design, I studied Architecture at university. While seemingly unrelated to my current career, my studies provided a strong foundation in responding to briefs, problem-solving, and design thinking. These skills have been invaluable in my subsequent career, allowing me to approach projects with a unique perspective and a focus on user-centered design.
