Adam Morley
About
Adam is an experienced technical engineering leader, with ten years of building distributed systems on cloud and hyper-scale infrastructure as an early member of AWS (2009-2018). He has the same number of Grammy Awards as Katy Perry. He's currently underemployed and angel invests in various startups. He'd like to find a tech leadership role in the Greater Seattle Area.
"We observe that Adam can enter a state...leading to divergence." - Meta AI 2023-04-26.
The date is 2024-12-30 His identity is still being stolen, and he's been waiting for a letter from a federally chartered financial institution since 2020.

Work Experience
Still waiting for AI to solve all my problems.
Found an old computer that was faster than what the cloud was built on in the 2010 timeframe. Put a cloud on it since somebody said my laptop was faster than my cloud and I could run something called duck access database real goodly.
Installed some LLMs I found lying around on the internet and compared with the party bus in SF. Mismo, more or less, based on parameter count. Surprised by the speed on CPUs later in the year.
Realized I had read > 200 ML papers and > 300 quantum computing papers during COVID stay-at-not-work, which must mean I don't know anything about ML or quantum computing since I only read 200 papers on databases in the prior decade.
Looked up my old AP test scores which were better than the SF party bus' robot, which I guess means I'm ahead by the length of one bank teller since my physics degree is from Ohio, and carbon units keep babbling about KYC or somesuch thing.
- Looked at a few hundred early stage investments in the first half of 2022, picked a few.
- Applied to some jobs but got no responses, which seemed odd since everyone claimed they were short staffed.
- angel investing in various firms
- a number of other things
- Learned rust and golang (preferred rust)
- Built some NLP/NLU models and some image classifiers with the usual frameworks (tensorflow/keras/pytorch)
- Did some angel and growth stage investing
- Got rejected by a few jobs because I was not already employed, which seemed somewhat backwards to me
Consumer device startup including:
- prototyping the software
- designing the hardware
- patent applications
- patent searches
Hardware wasn't available to build it the way I would want to sell it to customers, so I discontinued the project.
One of the Principal Engineers in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud. Primary areas of focus were in:
- system engineering
- platform design
- databases
- distributed systems
- automation
Technical leadership in:
- databases
- hardware platforms
of principal/senior software engineers, including global teams. Org sizes in the hundreds.
Cross-functional leadership roles across product teams/organizations. Org sizes in the thousands.
Worked primarily on DynamoDB. Also made contributions to Elastic Block Store (EBS), EC2's network infrastructure (Annapurna), RDS/Aurora.
During Amazon's 2020 Prime Day, DynamoDB peaked at 80.1 million requests per second.
