About
I am a twenty year old qualified boat mechanic and boat-builder from the West Coast of Canada. I have spent the last fourteen years of my life in the UK and am a proud citizen of both the UK and Canada. I am currently looking for an entry level position, ideally in Yacht Brokerage and sales to combine my qualifications with my passion for the marine industry.
Work Experience
Working as a yard associate, I had many responsibilities
Expertly maneuvering forklifts to:

Load and unload delivery trucks.

Pick and pack lumber and product deliveries.

Move product around the yard.

Organizing waste pallets and prepare for waste collection.
Assisting customers with various projects and questions
Safe heavy lifting of lumber and other products
Handling tool rentals; encompassing rental, return and repairs.
Picking for custom orders from invoices creating using CashierPRO
Assisting with product deliveries, mainly as an extra pair of hands.
Working as a member of the marine maintenance team, I had many responsibilities, including:
Cleaning and cosmetic repairs to two vessels, a steel monohull static boat used as an office and cafe and an aluminium catamaran workboat.
Engine checks on the dual CAT engines and gensets on the workboat before a sailing was scheduled.
Travelling to the local beaches and harvesting wild seaweed then cleaning and processing the seaweed for use in food and cosmetics products.
Undertaking crane operations to put a gangway in place every morning. This included the use of Fall Arrest equipment and an hydraulic winch.
Working as a sole proprietor, doing odd jobs and boatbuilding work for paying clients, including restoring traditional foils for a racing dinghy.
Worked in a team of three to five people in the kitchen, washing dishes and doing prep tasks for the chefs as well as daily cleaning. Moved to the bar after three months. Worked in teams of two to four serving alcohol, soft and hot drinks to an average of 300 people per day. Learnt the laws surrounding valid forms of ID and the ID process as well as inventorying stock and keeping track of daily wastage. Processed discounts and food orders on the tills.
Washing dishes, doing food prep, cleaning and other necessary tasks as the chefs and servers need
Scooped ice cream, processed camping bills and helped with odd jobs around the farm including moving luggage and facing the shelves in the farm shop.
Worked as part of a team of 2-4 people doing changeovers for rooms and cottages. Hoovered, sorted laundry, cleaned toilets and bathrooms and occasional porter and maintenance duties.
Volunteering
Teaching kids aged 3-10 basic and intermediate Tennis in a professional atmosphere. Leading 2-5 kids at a time by myself and leading in a larger group of leaders.
Education
Attained a Merit grade and worked on a wide variety of engines including Perkins and Vetus. I also gained foundational knowledge of hydraulic systems and a distinction in my health and safety unit. As an extra-curricular project, I created a Python script that could assist with the required equations for the course and I am still working on a custom course handbook that follows the syllabus.
Attained a Merit grade and continued work on the Cornish Pilot Gig project. I also built on my previous theory, joinery and fiber-glassing knowledge.
Attained a Merit grade and contributed to the "Epic Energy" Cornish Pilot Gig project. I also learnt foundational joinery and fiber-glassing skills, marine industry knowledge, health and safety legislation, and much more.
Attained 8 GCSEs including Maths & English at a grade 4 (C) and Combined Science at a grade 55 (low B, high C). Also attained a grade 6 in Photography. (high B, low A)
